The Universal Church Of The Kingdom Of God (UCKG) HelpCentre Was Formed In 1977, In Brazil.

Pastor Edir Macedo Started By Holding Services Under A Small Park Shelter In Rio De Janeiro. His Passion Was To Reach Out To Needy, Less Privileged People Who Were Often Excluded By Established Religions.
As Pastor Macedo’s Services Grew In Popularity, He Used Cinemas And Local Halls To Accommodate Growing Congregations, Attracting People From The Streets To The Expanding Movement. Today, The Church Is Established In Over 170 Countries And Has A Membership Of Around 10 Million.

It All Began On July 9th, 1977, When The Universal Church Of The Kingdom Of God Officially Opened Its Doors. At The Time, Pastor Edir Macedo, Unable To Afford A Property, Began His First Meetings In A Gazebo In The Garden Of Meier In Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Filled With An Unshakable Faith And Guided By The Holy Spirit, Bishop Macedo Followed The Same Faith Of Abraham. Leaving Behind A Secure Job And Putting His Marriage And Future In Jeopardy, He Obeyed God’s Voice And Pursued His Calling To Save Others And Spread The Word Of God.

Not Long After, A Former Funeral Home In The Neighborhood Of Abolição In Rio Became The First Church Building Where The Meetings Were Held. The Help And Support Of The First Members Was Essential. As Membership Grew, The Need For A Better And More Spacious Location Led The Church To A Former Furniture Warehouse, Which Was Remodeled To Accommodate 1,500 People. The Church Continued To Grow, And The Building Was Expanded To Seat 2,000. In A Short Period Of Time, The UCKG In Brazil Expanded To Other Cities, Including Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais, Bahia, And Rio Grande Do Sul, Among Many Others. Today There Is A UCKG In Every State In Brazil.

Worldwide Expansion
Since The Beginning, The Vision For The Universal Church Was To Take The Word Of God To Other Countries. The Late 1970s And 1980s Saw Rapid Growth As The Church Crossed Into Spanish Speaking Countries Such As Argentina, Spain, And Colombia. Expansion Over Time Extended To Other Countries Such As The US, Canada, Mexico And To Europe.

Today, The Universal Church Has A Presence In Over 200 Countries Worldwide And Is Reaching People Of All Nationalities, Faiths, Races, And Backgrounds. And It Continues To Grow.

These Teachings Are The Foundations Of Our Faith:
​
1. There Is Only One God – Who Is Living, True, And Eternal – Of Infinite Power And Wisdom. He Is The Creator And Protector Of All Things Visible And Invisible, Who In His Divinity, Majesty, Power And Mystery, Exists In The Union Of Three Distinct Eternal Beings, Equal In Holiness, Power And Majesty. These Are: The Father, The Son, And The Holy Spirit.

2. God The Father Was The First To Manifest Himself To Man, From The Time Of Adam Up Until The Birth Of The Lord Jesus Christ, Who Introduced The Law And The Commandments.

3. The Son, The Lord Jesus Christ, Was The Second Of The Trinity To Manifest Himself To Man When He Came To The World In Human Form And Was Born Of The Virgin Mary By The Work And Love Of The Holy Spirit. He, Word Of The Father Materialized, United Two Full And Perfect Natures – The Divine And The Human – To Be Known As The True God And True Man. He Suffered, Was Crucified, Died And Was Buried, Through Which He Has Reconciled Us With The Father, Being An Atonement For Our Sins And Guaranteeing Us Salvation And Deliverance From All Our Sufferings.

4. The Manifestation Of The Third Being Of The Holy Trinity, The Holy Spirit, Takes Place In The Human Heart To Convict Us Of Sin, Justice, And Judgment. His Conviction Of Sin Is Immediate, For The Purpose Of Leading Us To Repentance.

5. The Bible, The Word Of God, Was Written By Men But Divinely Inspired. It Is The Flawless Standard By Which All Conduct And Opinions Must Be Weighed: “All Scripture Is God-Breathed And Is Useful For Teaching, Rebuking, Correcting, And Training In Righteousness, So That The Man Of God May Be Thoroughly Equipped For Every Good Work.” (2 Timothy 3:16,17)

6. Justification Comes Only Through Faith In The Lord Jesus Christ, As It Is Written: “But My Righteous One Will Live By Faith. And If He Shrinks Back, I Will Not Be Pleased With Him.” (Hebrews 10:38) Works Of Charity Alone, Though Essential To The Christian Faith, Are Not Sufficient For Salvation.

7. The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit Is An Act Of Grace. It’s An Experience Acquired Through The Faith Of Those Who Long For Purification And Holiness. This Baptism Is Done Personally By The Lord Jesus And Is Evidenced By The Taking On Of The Character Of God, As Well As The Gift Of Speaking In Tongues.

8. Baptism In Water Is Done By Submersion, In The Name Of The Father, The Son, And The Holy Spirit, Not As An Exclusive Means Of Salvation, But As A Part Of It. It Is A Public Acknowledgement Of Faith, Seen As The Burying Of The Body Of Sin Or Of The Sinful Nature, To Be Raised To Live A New Life. True Spiritual Baptism Requires A Change Of Life After Baptism In Water – A Rejection Of Bad Habits, Of Selfishness, And Living A Life In Sin. Otherwise The Baptism Was No More Than A Ceremony.

9. The Nine Gifts Of The Holy Spirit Are Available To Us Today To Enable Us To Do The Work Of The Holy Spirit. The Gift Of Prophecy, Having In The Present Day Been Grossly Misused To The Point Of Deceiving Trusting Believers, Is To Be Based Only On The Written Word Of God, The Holy Bible.

10. The Lord’s Supper, The Most Important Ceremony In Christianity, Is Not Only A Symbolic Partaking Of The Body And Blood Of The Lord, But Also A Physical Partaking Of Our Spiritual Lord With The Goal Of Strengthening The Church Physically And Spiritually And Remembering The Death Of The Lord Until He Returns. It Serves To Renew The Vows Of Our Covenant With God Through The Blood Of The Lord Jesus.

11. Tithes And Offerings Are Sacred And Holy As The Word Of God. Tithes Signify Faithfulness, While Offerings Signify The Love Of A Servant Towards The Lord. Tithes And Offerings Are Inseparable As They Signify The Blood Of Those Who Were Saved, Given For The Sake Of Reaching Those In Need Of Salvation.

12. The Visible Church Of The Lord Jesus Is A Gathering Of All Faithful Christians, United In Faith And In The Communion Of The Gospel, Observing The Commandments Of The Lord, Governed By The Holy Spirit, By His Word, And In His Name.
13. The Lord Jesus Christ Gave Spiritual Authority To His Followers, Not Only To Heal The Sick And Cast Out Demons, But Above All, To Take His Word With The Power Of The Holy Spirit Throughout The World And Make Disciples.

14. All Christians Have The Right To An Abundant Life, According To The Words Of The Lord Jesus: “… I Have Come That They May Have Life, And Have It To The Full.” (John 10:10)

15. All Christians Must Desire The Imminent Return Of The Lord Jesus. His Return Will Be Personal And Unexpected, And All Christians Must Be Ready To Receive Him In The Clouds, According To What Is Written In Matthew 24:30 And Revelations 1:7.

16. The Final Goal Of A Permanent Relationship With The Lord Jesus By Faith Is Eternal Life, Which He Promised To All Those Who Persevere Until The End. “But The Cowardly, The Unbelieving, The Vile, The Murderers, The Sexually Immoral, Those Who Practice Magic Arts, The Idolaters And All Liars – Their Place Will Be In The Fiery Lake Of Burning Sulfur. This Is The Second Death.” (Revelation 21:8)
